4.12.2009The influence of the food supplement spectrum is much broader than you would guess
Contrary to medicaments, food supplements have no side effects. This results from their official registration as foodstuff, which is why the amount of active substances in “food supplements” is the same level as in our food - providing that we eat consume reasonably i.e. we do not eat too much.
However, the food supplements for sportspeople, consumed in accord with producer recommendations (not in the way “the more the better”) do have certain side effects - the positive ones. It is not surprising that - with abidance of producer or nutrition consultant´s recommendations they are only positive side effects. So what they are based on? Let us show you a couple of examples of food supplements and their families you have already know:
So when can we expect the positive side effects of the food supplements that we normally use to encourage our sport activities, whether in the fitness room, on the athletic oval or on the bike? The theory (Ivan Mach: Food Supplements, Prague, Svoboda servis 2004) says that this kind of effects is expected from food supplements if any of the following applies:
a) Our expectations are really high (for example, we strongly believe that the food supplements will be useful for us, as they are useful for sportspeople in general and we are keen on sports, too)
b) We suffer from lack of this type of food supplement (for example, our food basket is incomplete, does not comprise enough fresh groceries but, on the contrary, most of its content is technologically processed and not very well stored stuff which is rather low in nutrients.
Unfortunately, while the volume of this rubbish is incredibly growing, quality bio products are rare indeed.) I strongly believe that absolutely everybody will appreciate this side, the added value of food supplements - as it is the food supplements that provide our body with health benefits that we do not primarily expect hence do not normally pay for them. Aren´t they extremely beneficial for us in terms of health prevention?
